7.4.2.3 Indigenous Community-Owned Businesses

‘Indigenous community-owned business’ refers to a commercial enterprise that is owned by an Indigenous community or collectively by multiple Indigenous communities, rather than by individual entrepreneurs. This type of business is typically governed and managed under the auspices of the community itself, often through elected or appointed representatives or a community-owned corporation. Ownership must exceed 50% by Indigenous communities in order to be categorized as Indigenous community owned business.

Each Indigenous community-owned business must have its community affiliation recorded.
